Meet Carynne
Carynne Williams, LCSW, is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the UNC Chapel Hill School of Social Work and a former clinician with Duke CAPS. Her private practice works exclusively with Duke students, where she has years of experience providing psychotherapy services and supporting students through both academic and personal challenges. Carynne has a passion for working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including African-American and international populations, and considers it an honor to walk alongside clients navigating depression, anxiety, self-image complexities, and marital or family struggles. She is especially dedicated to helping students uncover their life’s mission and pursue their purpose with passion.
Her clinical approach is pragmatic and integrative, drawing from psychodynamic treatment, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused strategies, and psychoeducation. At the heart of her practice is a belief in addressing the whole person—emotionally, physically, spiritually, and socially. Carynne’s faith deeply fuels her clinical work, allowing her to bring authenticity, care, and hope into every therapeutic relationship.
